Adam Lee

Adam Lee holds a master’s degree in Music Education from New York University and was a high school band director in Los Angeles and New York for five years prior to coming to Pittsburgh to get a Ph.D. in Jazz Studies at Pitt. He is primarily a saxophonist but teaches other woodwind family instruments as well. He also has led big bands in Los Angeles and Beijing, China.

Pennsylvania 28th Infantry Division Band and went on to basic combat training in Fort Jackson, SC. Following basic training, she went on to the ArmySchool of Music and studied under SSG Casey Marsrow. She is currently stationed with the 28th ID Band out in Torrance, PA.

 

Throughout this past decade, Katie has performed with the IUP Wind Ensemble, IUP Symphony Orchestra, IUP Clarinet Choir, Keystone Chamber Winds, Clarion University Marching Band, the New Bethlehem Community Band, and the Ambridge Community Band. Other performance highlights include appearances with the Clarion University Chamber Singers at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod Choir of the World Competition where they placed third; ClarinetFest 2019 with the IUP Clarinet Choir (here they premiered a piece composed by one of their own student clarinetists); and the IUP Wind Ensemble CBDNA performance at Yale. Katie was also a member of the Reedle Me and SchFOURzando clarinet quartets while attending IUP. She is currently a member of the Indiana Community Band and taking lessons with Navy Band clarinetist, Dr. Lynda Dembowski.

 

When not teaching or performing, Katie finds joy in running 5K’s and half-marathons, reading, roller skating, and yoga.
